A Women's House, modeled on the one launched in 2016 in Saint-Denis, formally opened its doors on Friday in Grenoble and should offer a unit on sexual mutilation from next year.

Opened in early November, the Maison des femmes Grenoble Alpes was officially launched on Friday on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

It was urgent

” to open this place of day care, listening and care for women who are or have been victims of violence, said Dr Anne Angotti, director of the sexual health center of a clinic. from Grenoble and project leader alongside two other gynecologists, Drs Camille Lesne-Véran and Pascale Hoffmann.

"

As gynecologists, we are very often confronted with this question of violence

", explains Dr. Angotti.

And faced with this observation, we said to ourselves that something had to be done

”.

Women who go there can consult health professionals (gynecologists, physiotherapists, midwives...) and psychosocial professionals (psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers...), and take part in discussion groups and psychocorporal workshops.

Partner associations will take over with regard to the question of housing and access to rights.

The Women's House also plans to set up the possibility of receiving complaints in the coming months, with the establishment of a municipal police office.

It is also planned to create by 2023 a unit on sexual mutilation, for the time being non-existent in the Grenoble conurbation.

Launched in a transitional location, the Maison des femmes de Grenoble will move in early 2024 to a pavilion of the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Grenoble, to which it is attached.

According to figures communicated by the prefecture, in Isère, reports of acts of sexual violence increased by 28.42% between September 2021 and September 2022.
