The SVA is already six points behind fourth place.
The men from Anzing want to get their fourth win of the season against Friedberg.
Anzing – If SV Anzing hosts TSV Friedberg this Saturday at 6 p.m., then this duel in the Bayernliga Süd is a reunion with ex-colleagues for several handball players on both sides.
The anticipation for the game is correspondingly high - and yet the Anzinger Löwen would be only too happy to do without meeting TSV Friedberg twice more this season after Saturday.
Because the Swabians are currently bottom of the table without a win and will therefore have to fight for relegation in the playdowns from January.
The people of Anzing – who were the reigning runners-up after all – wanted to avoid the same at all costs.
Rather, their goal for the season was to reach the playoffs, i.e. a place in the top four.
But after an extremely meager season so far, this is now a long way off.
Already behind in fourth place
Sixth in the table, SVA is already six points behind fourth place.
In order to make the leap into the promotion round, the team of the coaching duo Hubert Müller and Kay Hoffmann must hope for a series of defeats by the rivals - and at the same time must not allow themselves any more mistakes in the remaining four games.
In view of this starting position, Hubert Müller speaks of "only a minimal chance" of the playoffs.
Irrespective of this, his team's focus is on finding and consolidating themselves until January, in order to then be successful in the second half of the season.
This starts again at zero for all teams, after all the previous results are not taken into the playoffs or playdowns.
Anzinger want to win the season against Friedberg
The men from Anzing still want to get their fourth win of the season against Friedberg – and on top of that annoy an ex-colleague.
Because TSV is coached by Andreas Dittiger, who laced up the handball shoes for the lions in the 2015/16 season.
On the other hand, two players in the current SVA squad also have a Friedberg past: Both goalkeeper Vinzenz Altenweger and playmaker Timo Riesenberger played for the Swabians last season.
