Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Sjärto stressed that the United States is the biggest beneficiary of the economic recession in Europe.
TASS news agency quoted Siarto as saying in a television interview: The European Union is heading to lose, and it is quite clear that the biggest beneficiary of its suffering is the United States of America, pointing out that the developments of the Ukrainian crisis and the sanctions imposed by the European Union on Russia are the cause of the energy crisis in Europe.
Siarto added: The situation of the US economy and its competitiveness has improved during the recent period, pointing out that the recession crisis in Europe is good news for the US economy, which has benefited as a result.
The Hungarian minister pointed out that the European Commission impedes the flow of investments to the region, describing the situation of the European economy as "unfortunate".
Earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban stated that the European Union pays five to ten times more for US energy resources, rather than returning to cheap Russian supplies.
