The Prime Minister again made use of this constitutional tool, Friday evening, on the fourth part of the “PLFSS” 2023. In the process, France Insoumise announced a new motion of censure against the government.

After a fifth appeal to article 49-3 last Monday by Élisabeth Borne at the National Assembly on the revenue part of the 2023 Social Security Budget, the Nupes group immediately filed a motion of censure aimed at bringing down the government.

At the end of an evening, Friday, where speeches by Nupes deputies multiplied in an almost empty Hemicycle, the text was largely rejected with only 85 votes in favor.

Which first validates the revenue part of this budget, while pushing the Prime Minister to trigger a new 49-3 on the fourth part of the bill.

The sixth since his arrival at Matignon.

In the process, France Insoumise announced a new motion of censure against the government.

The executive has had to face its sixth motion of censure since the start of the legislature, the fifth of the Nupes.

And this, the day after a very stormy and eventful parliamentary evening, where the debate on the reintegration of non-vaccinated caregivers inflamed the spirits.

With a parliamentary group which no longer has an absolute majority since the last legislative elections, the government has therefore resorted on several occasions to article 49-3 of the Constitution, which allows a text to be adopted without a vote in the Chamber. low if no motion of censure is tabled.

Monday, the rise to the platform of Elisabeth Borne had intervened after only three hours of discussions, in new reading.

The Assembly then voted a package of 543 million additional euros for 2022, which was added to the 570 million euros announced by the Minister of Health François Braun, at first reading, in the Senate.

No motion of censure from the RN

This new rejection also raises the question of the somewhat repetitive strategy of France Insoumise, which has been increasing its attempts for several weeks to overthrow the government.

Even if it means sometimes allying with the RN.

This time, the parliamentary group chaired by Marine Le Pen did not opt for the same tactic.

And had not filed a new motion.

“There is a repetitive side.

The text is always the same, there is no novelty or new things to say to the French”,

explained the deputy RN of the Somme Jean-Philippe Tanguy, Tuesday morning on France 2.
