Finally.
With a determination
that must be welcomed, the government has just presented its unemployment insurance reform.
The idea is to reduce the duration of compensation by 25% as long as the job market remains dynamic, the objective naturally being to encourage the unemployed to seek work more quickly.
"The reform should create between 100,000 and 150,000 jobs in 2023,"
said Labor Minister Olivier Dussopt, which gives an overview of the number of beneficiaries who abuse the system.
One wonders why
such a common sense measure was not taken sooner.
France has a low employment rate, it is also the European country where unemployment is the most generously compensated: no need to be an economics associate to understand that the two situations are linked.
Studies also show that the resumption of employment often takes place towards the end of the benefit period, which confirms that some unemployed people (not all, of course) take advantage of their rights.
