Karim Bouamrane (PS), 49, was elected on Thursday as head of the Société du Grand Paris (SGP), unanimously by the members of the supervisory board.
The mayor of Saint-Ouen therefore takes over from his counterpart in Clichy-sous-Bois, Olivier Klein, who became Minister for the City last July in the government of Elisabeth Borne.
Created by the State in 2010, the SGP is the political body and the contracting authority of the Grand Paris Express, this public transport network which is to revolutionize travel on the scale of the Ile-de-France metropolis.
Its main mission is to manage its deployment and funding.

Around 200 kilometers long, the Grand Paris Express is the largest infrastructure and development project underway in Europe.

Karim Bouamrane was appointed as a member by a decree dated October 17th.
