In view of the recent series of violent cases caused by triad gangs competing for interests, the West Kowloon Region, together with the four police districts of Yau Tsim, Mong Kok, Sham Shui Po, and Kowloon City, launched a police operation code-named "Bright Catch" in the past two weeks. The anti-triad operation aims to crack down on illegal activities in the region, cut off triad income sources, and hunt down gang members.
So far, the police have arrested a total of 283 people, including 187 men and 96 women, aged between 13 and 77, including 100 triad members and several gang leaders.
The crimes allegedly committed by each person include wounding, conspiracy to wound, drug trafficking, drug possession, claiming to be a member of a triad society, and operating a gambling establishment.
It is believed that some people are related to cases in other regions.

Chief Inspector Zhang Lequan of the Anti-Triad Operations Team of the West Kowloon Region of the Police said that personnel from the Crime Department of the West Kowloon Police District, the Emergency Unit, the Mobile Force, and the Traffic Department conducted anti-crime patrols in the Tsim Sha Tsui area at night and raided multiple entertainment venues in the Tsim Sha Tsui area. places, and setting up roadblocks.
The police reiterated that cracking down on triad activities is one of the first actions of the Commissioner of Police, and the police will continue to fight with all their strength.
After the police summed up the results of the operation, a group of plainclothes police officers and uniformed police officers went to the bar in Knutsford Terrace, Tsim Sha Tsui to inspect the bars.
