The Ukraine war, the energy crisis, finances and the construction site on the way to school: all of this was a topic at the Pöcking town hall meeting.

Pöcking

– On Wednesday evening, Rainer Schnitzler wanted to offer the 100 or so visitors to the town hall meeting in the “beautiful hall of the Beccult” a contrasting program to the sobering start of the World Cup by the German national team.

The mayor didn't promise too much.

In 75 minutes he submitted his information-packed statement of accounts.

The people of Pöcking are obviously very satisfied with their community and its leadership.

Only four written questions were submitted for the final round of talks, one was added.

This was of greatest interest: When will the way to school finally be released again?

As reported, a huge construction crane blocks the way through because of the renovation of the Wamsler villa.

Most recently, the mayor had informed the municipal council that the deadline for stationing the crane, which had been extended to the end of November, could not be met because a window delivery was delayed.

When Schnitzler wanted to put off the questioner, the audience interjected: "The windows were delivered today, the installation has started."

Referring to the pandemic and the Ukraine war, Schnitzler said: "The times are not normal." In view of the resulting threat to the energy supply, the mayor appealed to the citizens to be prepared: "Preparation is good, but there is no reason to panic expire.” In order to protect the water supply from cyber attacks, it was disconnected from the Internet.

120 Ukrainians currently live in Pöcking.

According to Schnitzler, everyone is required to become independent of fossil energy sources in the long term.

The municipality responded, for example with photovoltaics on roof areas and a wood chip heating plant for the indoor pool.

In order to save energy, the street lighting was converted to LED.

Also the Christmas lights, which are also reduced: Instead of 60 stars, only 25 shine between Metzgerei Lutz and Raiffeisenplatz.

In the town hall, washing hands is only possible with cold water, the offices have a maximum of 19 degrees.

"You just slip on a jumper every now and then," explained Schnitzler with a smile.

The mayor described the municipal cash situation as “still good”.

However, the worst-case scenario of disputed trade tax revenue is still hovering over Pöcking: "It's still up to the court, but nothing happens." He is most concerned about the general price trend, especially in the construction sector.

The community has a lot planned: new construction of the fire stations in Maising and Pöcking, creation of affordable housing, improvement of the broadband supply.

The development in the new commercial area could provide relief for the municipal budget.

Schnitzler expressed his delight at the decision of the owners to upgrade the old Dreiseit-Hof, which is now a listed building, for commercial use.

The mayor hopes to attract foreign companies from the construction of a new office building by the investor Thomas Schlereth (we reported).

"The commercial area is a successful project, and the community also benefits from it financially," says Schnitzler.

The plans for the new fire stations are under way, but with obstacles.

The prices for the building in Maising, designed as a timber structure, have exploded.

A concept for the problematic rainwater disposal is being worked on for the new building in Pöcking.

Schnitzler paid tribute to the Pöckinger fire brigade, which had strengthened its active squad.

The mayor stated that the House of Citizens and Associations has developed splendidly.

And: “It is still safe to live in Pöcking.

There are no changes compared to the previous year," he quoted the responsible police chief, Bernd Matuschek.
