Three Nigerian policemen were killed, and the director of an oil company was kidnapped by unknown gunmen in the Rumokoro area of Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, in the southeast of the country.
And Agence France-Presse quoted the region's police spokeswoman, Grace Iringi Coco, as saying in a statement: "Three policemen who were accompanying the official were killed, while the man was kidnapped and taken to an unknown location," explaining that the gunmen, who claimed to be a military patrol, signaled to the convoy to stop before Shooting and killing police officers.
Ireneji Coco indicated that the man who was kidnapped was the director of the Igbis Group, a Nigerian oil and gas company based in Port Harcourt, explaining that the police immediately opened an investigation to find out the circumstances of the incident.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet, but kidnappings for ransom are common in the country with the largest population in Africa.
