Toh Wing-hing, government and academia gathered at PolyU's 85th anniversary dinner: PolyU's aerospace research makes Hong Kong people proud

Polytechnic University held its 85th Anniversary Gala Dinner today (25th). Two books about PolyU’s innovative inventions and outstanding alumni were published simultaneously.

Zhuo Yongxing, the Deputy Secretary for Administrative Affairs who officiated the ceremony, specifically mentioned that the scientific research team of PolyU has actively participated in the national aerospace industry. During the country's many lunar exploration projects, the system developed and installed by the PolyU team on the lunar lander successfully captured clear images of the lunar surface. The video also successfully collected lunar soil and completed the mission entrusted by the country. "This achievement also makes PolyU and Hong Kong people proud."

Zhuo Yongxing, Director of the Education Bureau Cai Ruolian, Deputy Director of the Youth Work Department of the Liaison Office Wan Ning, etc., together with PolyU Council Chairman Lin Dahui, President Teng Jinguang, PolyU Council, University Advisory Committee and University senior management, co-chaired the launch ceremony.

"PolyImpact: PolyU's Innovations and Inventions for the Benefit of the World" and "Aiming High and Encouraging Learning and Benefiting the People - Winners of the Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award" were presented on the same stage, demonstrating PolyU's achievements in nurturing talents and transforming scientific research achievements.

Zhuo Yongxing said in his speech that as the country's development enters a new era, PolyU, as a first-class local institution with excellent education and scientific research, is also actively responding to the country's "14th Five-Year Plan Outline" to clearly support Hong Kong's construction of an international innovation and technology center Target.

He pointed out that PolyU has made full use of the government's "Outstanding Innovative Scientists Program" and stepped up efforts to attract internationally renowned innovative scientists to come to Hong Kong to participate in teaching and research. The newly established "Institute for Advanced Study" has set up 16 research institutes and centers under its jurisdiction. Focusing on research in forward-looking fields such as artificial intelligence, carbon neutrality, deep space exploration, smart cities, smart energy, and innovation in traditional Chinese medicine, it will surely become the largest interdisciplinary research platform in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Lin Taihui said that PolyU, as a first-class local institution with excellent education and scientific research, is also actively responding to the country's "14th Five-Year Plan Outline" to clearly support Hong Kong's goal of building an international innovation and technology center. PolyU fully grasps the government's outstanding innovative talents plan , stepping up efforts to attract internationally renowned innovation and science scholars to come to Hong Kong to participate in teaching and research.

Teng Jinguang said that PolyU will strive for excellence, cultivate diverse leadership talents for the innovation and technology ecosystem with high-quality education and scientific research, promote the development of interdisciplinary research, strengthen the transformation of scientific research results, and support the construction of Hong Kong and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area into an international technology innovation hub.
