The Syrian Karate team achieved two gold medals on the first day of the West Asian Championship for men, women, young women, male and female youth, which is currently being held in the United Arab Emirates, with the participation of the teams of Bahrain, Lebanon, the Sultanate of Oman, Palestine, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Yemen, the UAE and Saudi Arabia, in addition to Syria.
The two medals came from Maria Al-Halawi, who weighed under 42 kg for the U-14 category, and Layal Salman, who weighed over 48 kg, for the U-14 category.
In a statement to SANA, the head of the Karate Federation, Jihad Mia, confirmed that our team prepared to participate in the championship in a closed training camp in Damascus that lasted for ten days. On the external level, we will spare no effort in achieving medals, raising the Syrian flag high and playing the dear national anthem on the podiums.
The team’s mission consists of the head of the Football Association, Jihad Mahmoud Mia, as head of the mission, Salima Qalaji, Abdel Moneim Drios, administrators, Suhail Salman and Nawras Al Hamwi, coaches, and players and players, Maria Al Halawi, Layal Salman, Abdul Karim Al Halawi, Samir Qabbani, Wissam Abu Mahmoud, Qais Al Gharawi, Mays Qara Falah, Kholoud Ali, Olft Bermbo and Majd Selkan.
