The federal government has announced further aid due to the dramatic situation in Ukraine.

According to the Federal Foreign Office, the Federal Agency for Technical Relief (THW) is preparing to deliver 100 power generators over the next two weeks. 135 such devices have already been brought into the country since the beginning of the war.

In total, the THW procured generators worth more than 13 million euros for the Ukraine.

According to the Federal Ministry of the Interior, 15 additional oil heaters will soon be handed over to Ukraine, as well as 20 mobile battery storage units and 38 residential and sanitary containers.

The Ministry of Development Aid announced that an additional twelve million euros from its budget will flow into the energy supply of Ukrainian cities and communities.

The German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) will procure generators for this.

In the current year, 2,430 such devices have already been delivered to the Ukraine.

They would be used, for example, to operate public “warm-up facilities”.

Russia recently caused power outages in large parts of Ukraine with rocket and drone attacks.

The water supply also collapsed in some places.

"If the shelling of civilian infrastructure continues, we must step up our response," said EU Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson after a ministerial meeting.

»Millions of people are without heating and water.«
