(ANSA) - ROME, NOVEMBER 25 - "The facade of the Ministry of Education and Merit has been painted red. It is in

fact the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Why we decided to paint this day red facade? Because it represents blood, it represents violence, it represents the humiliations that so many women have suffered and continue to suffer. We must be aware that it is necessary to defend the dignity of the human person, of every human person. And we must start from schools. We must educate children to the culture of respect.

Because this violence, this violence against women, is not only the one that goes on in the newspapers, which indignates us every day, it is not the one that manifests itself even in courtrooms, but it is also that sneaky violence, that silent violence that in so many homes, in many workplaces the perpetration continues.

And so we must give a strong signal to our young people, we must educate them in friendship, in loving each other, in respecting each other, in the culture of respect so that there is no discrimination.

There is no gender discrimination and above all the culture of violence is banned.

Because every act that discriminates against a woman manifests violence and bullying.

Let's start from schools to build a true, great civilization of solidarity, respect and friendship".

This is what the Minister of Education and Merit Giuseppe Valditara declares in the video message published on the Ministry's website and social channels, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which is celebrated today.
