While millions of Ukrainians have suffered emergency power cuts in recent weeks, France is stepping up its mobilization for the benefit of kyiv.
In response to Ukraine's appeal, the government is sending “100 generators with a power of 50 to 100KWA to Romania” on site so that they can be “handed over to the Ukrainian authorities in the coming days”, indicates this Friday the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This routing is part of an operation to send more than 500 generators by several countries of the European Union.
So far, 85 generators had already been sent from France for the benefit of Ukraine and Moldova, adds the Quai d'Orsay.
“The situation remains difficult in almost all regions”
Concern continues in Ukraine as massive Russian strikes have damaged the country's energy infrastructure.
About fifteen regions were still having problems with the water and electricity supply.
“The situation with electricity remains difficult in almost all regions.
However, we are gradually moving away from outages and every hour we are reconnecting electricity for new consumers,” President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his address Thursday evening.
In kyiv, hit by freezing rain falling on snow and near freezing temperatures, 60% of the population were still enduring power outages, according to the town hall, but were gradually seeing the lights come back on.
Three nuclear power plants under kyiv control were able to be reconnected on Thursday.
The rest of Ukraine was also largely affected by the outages, but the reconnection of critical infrastructure to the grid continued gradually.
