One in eight women in the US experience symptoms of postpartum depression, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
"We tell our mothers-to-be that they are not alone, it is important that if they feel sad and think they can't take it anymore, they need to tell their partner, their family members, and there are also mental health services" to help them, says Dr. José Cordero, public health specialist.
