A matter of accuracy: Australia beat Tunisia 0:1 - voila! FIFA World Cup

2022-11-26T13:14:23.743Z

An impressive strike from Mitchell Duke (23) gave the Socceroos their first World Cup win since 2010, keeping a chance of qualifying for the round of 16 in Qatar and keeping the Tunisians away

For more than 12 years, Australia has been waiting for a victory in the World Cup, and today (Saturday) it achieved it with the most important 0:1 over Tunisia in the game that started the second round in Group D.

Mitchell Duke slotted in the only goal of the game, dedicated to his son sitting in the stands, to give the Socceroos their first three points in Qatar, which keep them alive and forget their defeat at the hands of France in the previous game.

The African team, who squeezed out a somewhat surprising draw against Denmark last Tuesday, produced more goal threats than their opponents, but lacked what the Australians have: accuracy.

Now, Tunisia will have to stun France in the last round to advance, and of course will also depend on the results of the corresponding matches at home.

Duke has five goals in his last eight appearances for the national team, with four of them coming on a strike, but today he certainly scored the most important - probably of his entire career.
