In honor of the martyrs and their sacrifices, the Damascus Countryside Governorate, in cooperation with the Directorate of Martyrs and Wounded Affairs, today honored 502 of the families of the martyrs, during a ceremony held at the Palace of Conferences in Damascus, where medals of sincerity were presented to them as an expression of the sanctity of martyrdom.

The celebration included a group of theatrical and singing performances, presented by female students from the Vanguards of the Baath Organization, who talked about the value of the homeland and the importance and greatness of martyrdom, while the Syrian National Band for Arab Music, led by Maestro Adnan Fathallah, presented a number of patriotic songs.

In statements to SANA reporter, a number of families of the martyrs affirmed that the martyrdom of their sons drew a new path for future generations, and the name of Syria rose with their pure blood. The son of the martyr Fadi Al-Rayes said: He will continue the path of his father and will find and strive to have a role in building Syria, while the father of the martyr Muharib Anwar Al-Marzouq expressed He expressed his pride in the martyrdom of his son, and the father of the martyr Ahmed Hassan Khawand indicated that the honor is a beautiful gesture to remind the sacrifices of the heroes and their pure blood. As for Hala Taha, the mother of the martyr Qutaiba Adra, she confirmed that her son’s martyrdom is a great honor for her and the country.

On behalf of the families of the martyrs, Reem al-Hassan pointed out in a speech that the martyrs sacrificed their lives for the homeland and defended its soil, saying: “Today we bow in shame before their great giving, and we will complete their path of sacrifice and struggle, and we will carry the pen and the pick to continue building Syria as they wished it to be.”

In his speech, the governor of Damascus countryside, Safwan Abu Saadi, pointed out that the steadfastness, victories and sacrifices of the valiant Syrian Arab Army and its people thwarted all the plots of Syria's enemies, and created a generation capable of following in the path of their fathers, so that Syria would remain free, independent and resistant to conspiracies.

For his part, Director of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs, Major General Bassam Berri, pointed out that the pure blood of the martyrs was a light for us, with which they drew a map of renewed vigor in the veins of certainty, so that they would tread the glory of a free and generous homeland, so that Syria would remain dear and dignified, surrounded by the steadfastness of men.

The honor was attended by a number of members of the People's Assembly, the Secretary of the Damascus Countryside Branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Radwan Mustafa, the Secretary General of the Governorate, the President of the Council, and some members of the Executive Office and directors of the Governorate.
