Production estimates of the olive crop in Jableh for this year are about 75,000 tons, which will result in an amount of oil estimated at 12,000 tons, with a noticeable increase from the last season estimated at 7,000 tons of oil, according to Eng. Somar Daoud, head of the Olive Presses Committee in the Jableh region.
In a statement to SANA reporter, Dawood explained that the number of presses in Jableh and its countryside is 73, divided into 15 modern (centrifugal) presses, and the rest of them are hydraulic pressure presses, i.e. the principle of cold pressing. They are mainly distributed in the Qutaylibiah area, 12 presses, in Al-Budi 9 presses, and 9 Ciano presses. While the rest of the presses are distributed in separate areas of the Jableh region and its countryside.
Daoud pointed out that the olive pressing process started from mid-October until the end of November, and it is expected that the quality of the oil for this year will be good in quantity and quality compared to previous years as a result of the recent rains, pointing out that all the city’s presses and its countryside are monitored by the Jableh Agriculture Department. In terms of adherence to prices, cleanliness, and the removal of waste, and each press has a supervising engineer from the extension unit in the region, and it has a record for the role and a record for the transfer of peat water.
The olive production in the last season in Jableh amounted to about 35,000 tons, and the oil production was about 5,000 tons.
