Angelika Karg from Polling sells handmade Advent arrangements, offers courses for those who are interested and knows the current trends.

Polling - "Natural materials from the region as a basis, provided with classic red candles": This is how Angelika Karg likes her Advent wreath best.

She can't do anything with kitsch or "glitzy things".

Of course, the Pollinger woman fulfills every wish of her customers when it comes to Christmas arrangements.

Depending on the size, you pay between 35 and 80 euros.

For more than twenty years now, the trained florist has been the contact for everyone from Polling and the surrounding area who values handmade arrangements.

At first she did the whole thing full-time, now only as a sideline to agriculture and to order.

In recent years, Karg has seen many trending colors and designs in advent wreaths come and go.

"Grays are very trendy this year," she reveals.

However, that does not mean that customers will order accordingly: “The classic Christmas colors red and green are still the most popular.

So tradition is obviously always trendy.” In this respect, Angelika Karg, who prefers to keep it classic herself, is completely on the same wavelength as her customers.

But Karg does not only produce the finest floristry during Advent, you are also in the best hands with the Pollingerin for arrangements for All Saints' Day or Easter.

If you would like to learn the art of natural floristry yourself, you are also at the right address with Angelika Karg: She regularly offers corresponding courses for the educational work of the Bavarian Farmers' Association.

Those on the subject of Advent arrangements always take place in mid-November and each last around two to three hours.

"After that, each participant goes home with a more or less beautiful arrangement, depending on their talent," says Karg with a smile and adds: "It's definitely something different than the ten-euro wreaths from the discount store."

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.

The beginning of every Advent wreath is either a straw ring or what is known as a sponge.

Gradually, the fir, box, or ivy branches are then tied or stuck around the ring.

Once the base is in place, it's time to decorate.

And of course the candles should not be missing in the first place.

These are attached to a holder and then placed on the Advent wreath at regular intervals.

When it comes to the accessories, there are almost no limits to the imagination: cones, Christmas balls, straw stars, cinnamon sticks, dried flowers, nuts, angel hair or various things from nature give the wreath the final touch.

Then it can shine in full splendor and brighten up the time until Christmas.
