Beni Hafner aka "Oimara" in an interview with our newspaper about Heimatliebe and his new album.

This is presented in the cabaret stage Ambush.

Gelting - "Oimara", the name that songwriter Beni Hafner gave himself, sounds more like an African national drink and is almost unpronounceable for the non-Bavarian.

Hafner (30) is a self-made musician, a so-called high-flyer.

He grew up on the Hafner-Alm on Sutten near Tegernsee, trained as a cook and studied hotel management and worked for years in star restaurants on Mallorca.

With "Bierli in the Sun" he landed a hit.

The mobile phone video has now been clicked 1.4 million times online.

This Saturday the "Oimara" will be ambushed with his new album "Wannabe", he is currently on tour through Bavaria.

Our employee Andrea Weber spoke to the humorous mood maker about lifestyle and dialect art.

Mr. Hafner, or may I cheekily say Almbursch?

You grew up on top of the mountain, right?

Hafner:

My parents ran the Hafner-Alm on the Sutten for 20 years with restaurants and a small zoo.

We had a sanctuary for many animals.

Music has always been my dream.

I taught myself to play the guitar on the Alm and listened to and replayed all sorts of things.

"

Bierli in the Sun" is a homage to beer.

Did the success come to Mallorca?

Would it fit perfectly thematically?

Hafner:

No, only after the time in Mallorca.

It was a sure-fire success on social media.

And then came the first record deal.

The song hit and still does.

Surely the Bavarians love the beer.

For me this song has more meaning.

It is my sincere love for my homeland, for the Bavarian culture and its lifestyle.

Maybe the interest came because nobody knew I was making music.

When you think of a Bavarian singer-songwriter, you think of dialect and a good sound.

Their songs have cheeky lyrics and a heavy rock or reggae rhythm.

Is this the freestyle of folk music?

Hafner:

I don't think about such analytical thoughts at all.

I make music that comes out of me.

Today it's rock, tomorrow it's reggae.

I don't see myself in any genre category.

I think the Bavarian language deserves to be modernized.

Does dialect have its own sense of humor?

Hafner:

Of course.

Tell someone in High German "You're a fool".

In Bavarian people laugh about it.

That's the beauty of dialect.

Her new album is called "Wannabe".

That means something like "would-be".

Are you the kind of guy who likes to bang it out?

Hafner:

I grew up at Tegernsee.

It's touristy there, people who have moved there have third-party homes, people want to be seen there and show who they are.

Doesn't each of us have a certain need for recognition?

Are you more of the party boy or the thoughtful songwriter?

Hafner:

Both.

"Oimara" plays in the ambush on Saturday, November 26th, from 8 p.m.

Admission is from 6.30 p.m., the concert is not seated.
