The NFL wants to go back to Munich – as early as next year.

According to information from our newspaper, there is a request for November 12, 2023.

Munich – Sweet Caroline and Country Roads resounded from a good 70,000 throats – long after the end of the game.

The players around star quarterback Tom Brady were euphoric, Brady himself spoke of an epic event - and didn't mean the victory of his Tampa Bay Buccanneers against the Seattle Seahawks, but the outstanding atmosphere in the Allianz Arena.

NFL come back to Munich: Mexico City had to cancel for 2023

The NFL took note of that.

And those responsible seem to have liked it so much in Munich that they want to come back next year.

As our newspaper has now learned, there is a specific request for a game in the arena on November 12, 2023. The reason is that Mexico City will not be available as a venue next year.

As part of their international series, NFL teams make guest appearances outside of the USA every year, and have been to London and Mexico City for years.

This year, on November 13th, the first regular season game on German soil took place in Munich.

The state capital will share four events with Frankfurt am Main until 2025, where the next NFL game will then take place as scheduled next year.

It would not be Munich's turn again until 2024.

However, as previously exclusively reported, the operating company of the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City had to cancel the event next year.

Because the venue is being renovated for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada.

This now opens up the possibility for Munich.

This means that two NFL games could take place on German soil in 2023.

And there are indications that the Kansas City Chiefs could be part of the game in the Bavarian state capital.

Along with the Buccaneers, the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers, the Chiefs are among the four teams that have marketing rights for Germany.

The Chiefs also have a partnership with FC Bayern Munich.

Chiefs boss Mark Donovan had already made it clear in an interview with ran where he would like to see his team.

"If they decide to play one game in Munich and one in Frankfurt, we would prefer to play in Munich, but Frankfurt would be great too."
