Geretsried – Because she had hidden five packs of ham worth almost nine euros in her clothes in a supermarket, a 60-year-old woman from Geretsried had to answer to the district court.
Much was at stake for the previously convicted defendant.
Because in April 2022 she was already fined for stealing a wallet.
Just five weeks later, the woman from Geretsried relapsed in a supermarket in Wolfratshausen.
Accused Geretsriederin desperate: "I don't know what was going on in my head
At the most recent hearing at the district court, the accused appeared desperate: "I don't know what was going on in my head," the woman explained.
Although she had enough money with her, she wanted to smuggle the meat products past the cash register without paying.
"I saw her tuck the ham packs down her pants and I confronted her," the 53-year-old store detective explained.
The woman returned the goods and even paid the catch bonus of 100 euros on the spot.
Judge Helmut Berger certified the accused "an extremely high rate of recidivism".
Because the school companion had already been convicted of theft in 2019 and 2022, the public prosecutor no longer considered a fine to be sufficient and recommended a six-month prison sentence, which could be suspended on probation due to the low value of the goods.
Berger halved the suspended sentence to three months and ordered the accused to pay 500 euros to a kindergarten in Wolfratshausen.
The probationary period is two years.
The woman from Geretsried accepted the court decision with sobs.
"The entry in the certificate of good conduct could lead to my dismissal," the accused finally stated.
