The next presidential election in the Democratic Republic of Congo is set for December 20, 2023, according to the calendar officially announced on Saturday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (Ceni).
This announcement comes as the east of the country remains plagued by violence from armed groups, including the M23 rebellion which controls part of a territory in North Kivu.
