The first batch of about 770,000 doses of the bivalent vaccine of Fubita arrived in Hong Kong yesterday. The government announced today (26th) that eligible persons aged 12 or above can choose to receive the bivalent vaccine of Fubita from December 1. Appointment service will start at 9:00 am tomorrow (27th).
The government stated that in response to the arrival of the "Fubitai original strain/Omicron variant BA.4-5 bivalent vaccine" yesterday, the computer appointment system has been updated to allow eligible citizens to choose when making an appointment.
Eligible persons aged 60 or above who receive "same day" vaccinations can choose on the spot.

Fubitai bivalent vaccine can be used by eligible persons aged 12 or above as the fourth dose of the vaccine or as an alternative to the third dose of the recovered person according to the current vaccination schedule, but they can still choose to receive Sinovac or Fubitai original strain vaccine.
The Secretary for the Civil Service, Yang He Beiyin, said that the vaccination sites that provide Fubitai bivalent vaccine include community vaccination centers, community vaccination stations, public hospital new crown vaccination stations, general outpatient clinics designated by the Hospital Authority, and private clinics for vaccination stand.
Vaccination sites will only provide bivalent vaccine vaccination services for qualified individuals according to the guidelines of the health department, but will not provide bivalent vaccines for citizens who have never been vaccinated or have not received the appropriate dose.

She said that to maintain the protective power of the vaccine, the key point is to receive the appropriate dose of the vaccine according to the vaccination schedule, and the vaccines provided in Hong Kong are safe and effective.
As the protective power of vaccines will fade over time, people who have not received the appropriate dose are urged to get vaccinated as soon as possible, especially high-risk groups such as the elderly.
Three types of people are eligible to receive Fubitai Bivalent Vaccine:
1) People aged 50 or above.
2) Immunocompromised persons aged 12 or above.
3) People aged 18 to 49 consider their own risks and benefits, such as higher exposure risks or personal needs.
Members of the public can go to the dedicated website of the COVID-19 Vaccination Program to make appointments for injections starting tomorrow.
The government has procured a total of 1.9 million doses of Fubita bivalent vaccine from pharmaceutical companies, and the remaining doses are expected to arrive in Hong Kong by the end of this year.
The government said it would closely monitor the demand for bivalent vaccines and purchase more if necessary.
