Today, the Ministry of Health announced that the cumulative total number of confirmed cholera infections rose to 1,529, distributed in Aleppo 933, Deir Ezzor 228, Hasakah 88, Lattakia 89, Raqqa 54, Hama 33, As-Suwayda 26, Homs 25, Damascus 20, Rural Damascus 15, Tartous 10, Daraa 5, and Quneitra 3.
According to a ministry statement, a copy of which SANA received today, the total cumulative number of cholera deaths reached 49, distributed in Aleppo 40, Hasakah 4, Deir Ezzor 2, Homs 1, Hama 1, and Damascus 1.
The Ministry called for the need to follow public health procedures, represented by washing hands with soap and water for a period of not less than 30 seconds before drawing water from the source, and using covered and clean containers to transport and store it, and if the water is unsafe, it must be made safe by boiling it for two minutes at a time.
Wash hands with soap and water frequently, especially before handling or preparing food, before eating, after cleaning a baby, before breastfeeding or feeding a baby, and after using the restroom.
She also emphasized the necessity of properly reheating food leftovers to kill bacteria before eating them, and covering them to avoid flies and the transmission of diseases, in addition to the need to maintain the cleanliness and safety of water and sanitation facilities in schools, not to drink water directly from the tap with the mouth, and not to exchange bottles or cups of water between students.
