Irene Cara, who won an Oscar for singing the main theme songs for movies like Fame and Flashdance, has died at the age of 63.
The news was confirmed by her publicist this Saturday.
"It is with deep sadness and on behalf of her family that I inform you that Irene Cara has passed away," wrote Judith A. Moose in a statement posted on the singer's website, as well as on her social networks.
“The Oscar-winning actress, singer, songwriter and producer passed away at her home in Florida.
Her cause of death is still unknown and will be communicated when the information is available ”, the text continues.

Moose went on to say that breaking the news is "the worst part of being a publicist," adding, "I can't believe I have to write this, let alone break the news."
"She was a beautifully gifted soul whose legacy will live on forever through her music and films."

Cara received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Coco Hernandez in the 1980 musical
Fame.
She then sang and co-
wrote Flashdance... What a Feeling
for the soundtrack to the 1983 blockbuster film starring Jennifer Beals, an aspiring dancer.
She won two Grammys for that song: one in the category of best original album written for a motion picture or television special, which she shared with other writers, and another in the category of best female pop vocal performance.
He then appeared in films like DC Cab and City Heat, as well as other television shows.
He also did theater and musicals.
