At least eight people were killed this morning (Saturday) in a rockslide that hit the Italian resort island of Ischia, 13 more were identified as missing.
The landslide occurred as a result of heavy rains that fell in the city.
The fire forces in the country reported in a tweet on Twitter that operations are being carried out in the field to locate them.
The fire department said that getting to the island is complicated due to the difficulty of getting there with motorboats and helicopters in the stormy weather.
The fire department also said that, however, they managed to rescue two passengers whose car was swept into the sea.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Maloney said that she is in close contact with Civil Defense Minister Nello Mussommazi, the Department of Civil Defense as well as the Campania region, "to follow the development of the stormy weather wave that hit Ischia".
Musomatsi said that a young child was among the missing, adding that families in danger are being evacuated.
