Death by natural circumstances - or assassination? The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, Vladimir Mackay, died suddenly today at the age of 64.
The official news agency of the Lukashenko regime, "Belta", reported that he died suddenly.
Mackay, who served as foreign minister since 2012, was one of the loyalists of the dictator Lukashenko.
Before being appointed Foreign Minister, he served as the President's Chief of Staff.
He is considered a relatively moderate figure in the dictatorial regime and maintained open channels of communication with some of his colleagues in the West even after the suppression of the democratic protest in the country in 2020 and the Western sanctions that followed.
Just yesterday, Mackay appeared at the Security Council Organization summit in Yerevan and appeared perfectly healthy.
Immediately after his death, rumors and estimates spread that his death was not accidental.
The reason: reports emerged yesterday that the Kremlin is planning to assassinate Lukashenko in order to take control of Belarus and strengthen the threat to Ukraine from the north.
The dictator Lukashenko allowed Russia to use his country's territory to invade Ukraine last February and since then has also allowed missiles to be launched from his territory towards it, but has avoided in any way from bringing his army into the campaign.
If McKay's death did not come under natural circumstances, it is not impossible that this is a signal to Lukashenko.
