Every year in Advent, the local newspaper calls for donations.

This year, the proceeds benefit three projects in the district.

They stand up for those who are on the fringes of society: the poor, the sick and people with disabilities.

Miesbach - In cooperation with the "Holzkirchen hilft" association, this time we are supporting low-income earners from the entire district who are in need because of the high energy and living costs.

A smaller part of the proceeds will also support the construction of an inclusion playground for children with and without disabilities in Miesbach and the visiting service of the Holzkirchen neighborhood aid.

Subsidy for low earners

Hardly any Christmas presents under the Christmas tree because hot water, heating, electricity and groceries have almost eaten up the small monthly salary: That could be the case for many families this year - even in a district as rich as Miesbach.

The non-profit association "Holzkirchen helps", which - contrary to what the name suggests - works across the district, estimates that around 2,300 households are affected (see text above).

In order to relieve them, he has launched a special campaign in which low-income earners are granted a one-time subsidy.

They are hit harder than high earners by the cost explosion – which is also noticeable with every purchase in the supermarket.

"Anyone who has just been able to keep their head above water is now in existential need," says Marc Gerster, chairman of the association.

In order to be able to help those who cannot prove their need by means of a notification from the social welfare office, the association has developed a factor to calculate who needs financial help.

It is based on the Holzkirchen Card, which is given to those whose income is up to 25 percent above the level of social assistance.

"Holzkirchen helps" works with the social services of the town halls, which determine the income of those affected and thus determine their entitlement.

The payment is then made via the association, but only after all applications have been processed.

This is to ensure that everyone in need gets help, and not just the quickest.

In order to be able to grant everyone a subsidy of 100 euros, the association estimates that around 230,000 euros are needed.

Adventure Inclusive Playground

Everyone has the right to participate, but the prerequisites for making use of this right are not always met: a child in a wheelchair, for example, cannot play in any public playground in the district.

The non-profit development group for recreation areas in Miesbach wants to change that: It is committed to the construction of an adventure playground on the Miesbacher Nordgraben, which children with and without disabilities can use equally.

For example, by being equipped with play equipment for children with walking disabilities and visually impaired children.

Not only children with disabilities would benefit from this: all children could have fun in such an adventure inclusive playground.

And learn that everyone is different.

And that it is important to take care of each other.

A lot of money is needed to create this meeting place on the site of the adventure playground, which has been closed for two years: the initiators are currently expecting at least 220,000 euros.

Ecumenical Neighborhood Aid Holzkirchen

The ecumenical neighborhood help Holzkirchen also depends on donations in order to be able to continue to help.

For more than 30 years she has been organizing transport services for seniors, accompanying them to the doctor and to the authorities.

Her helpers visit older people in old people's homes, take them for walks, read to them - and thus counteract the loneliness of old age with sympathy.

If parents suddenly fall ill, the neighborhood help takes care of a babysitter.

She also supports people with dementia and their families.

Together and for each other, that is the motto of the non-profit association, which sees itself as a bridge to people in difficulty.

The volunteers from the Ecumenical Neighborhood Aid Holzkirchen also look after lonely seniors.
