Are they just empty words in the end?

In his criminal trial and afterwards, Alfons Schuhbeck (73) announced that he wanted to "take full responsibility for my mistakes".

The star chef evaded 2.3 million euros in taxes.

But to date he has not repaid a euro.

Munich – The bitter Schuhbeck balance sheet: the tax office and district court are still waiting for his compensation for damage.

The Schuhbeck verdict is four weeks ago tomorrow, Thursday.

He was sentenced to three years and two months in prison.

But: "Neither the court nor the public prosecutor's office were informed of any damage compensation after the verdict was announced," confirms Laurent Lafleur, press spokesman for the Higher Regional Court.

Even after his conviction, Schuhbecks said in a statement that he was at fault and that he was "responsible for the damage caused, which can also include a longer prison sentence." This includes "trying to make up for the damage in full". , on which he works “tirelessly”.

Schuhbeck said verbatim that he would "not slacken in my efforts to repair the damage as far as possible." So far, however, without result...

Insiders who have something to do with his case speak of Schuhbeck's "empty phrases".

Because the fact that the star chef was really to blame only emerged in the criminal proceedings when his former employee Jürgen W. (55) heavily incriminated him.

Schuhbeck then admitted part of his tax liability - and the rest only days later, when he was already standing with his back to the wall.

Probation is "not remotely" possible, judge Andrea Wagner ruled in the case.

Munich: Alfons Schuhbeck wanted to take responsibility - instead he attacked his judgment

While Uli Hoeneß accepted his three-and-a-half-year sentence in 2014 and quickly paid his tax debts of over 28.5 million euros, Schuhbeck is playing for time.

Instead of assuming responsibility, the star chef actually preferred to challenge his verdict, which the Federal Court of Justice is now examining for errors of law.

In the meantime, Schuhbeck is trying to find an investor.

If he pays the tax debt, Fonsi could possibly get away with a small fine in a possible repeat process (end of 2023 at the earliest) - according to his strategy.

If that doesn't work, things look bleak.

Because possible income generated by Schuhbeck itself initially flows into the insolvency estate of his failed companies.

He will hardly be able to pay the tax debt of 1.2 million euros on his own.

Efforts, however, "continue unabated," says his spokesman.
