As part of its ongoing crackdown on Chinese tech giants, the US administration has banned approval of the purchase of new telecommunications equipment from Chinese firms Huawei and ZTE, claiming that it poses an "unacceptable risk" to US national security.
The US Federal Communications Commission said, according to Reuters, today, "It has approved the final rules banning the sale or import of equipment made by Dahua Technology, a manufacturer of surveillance equipment, Hangzhou Hikvision Digital Technology, a maker of video equipment, and Hytera Communications of the mentioned Chinese companies."
This step comes as part of a series of hostile and provocative measures that Washington is taking against China.
On the other hand, the Chinese company Hikvision said in a statement: Its products do not threaten American security, and that this decision issued by the Federal Communications Commission will not contribute anything to protecting American national security, but it will be significantly more harmful and costly to small businesses in the United States, local authorities there and school districts. and individual consumers, stating that it will continue to serve US customers "in full compliance" with the laws.
