A digital signature is a set of data inserted on an electronic document (contracts, agreements, purchase and sale orders, or any other private electronic correspondence), through which the identity of the person (document signer) is linked with the signed document or data itself in such a way that the recipient of the digitally signed document or data has the ability to Verify that the signature included on it is valid for sure.
The Director General of the National Authority for Network Services, Dr. Wassim Al-Junaidi, added, in a statement to SANA reporter, that the digital signature is the most important and reliable technology for defining the identity of individuals and natural and legal entities. It is also an infrastructure service for any digital transformation project, as any service will be published within the framework of the transformation. At some point, you will need to verify the identity of the customers, whether the service provider or the service applicant.
Al-Junaidi explained that the most important benefits that can be achieved through digital signature services are identification, authentication, non-denial, data integrity, and disclosure of any modification that occurs to it, calling on those wishing to provide certification services from the private sector to obtain a license from the authority, and submit an application to the authority, which in turn studies it and the extent to which it is achieved. The controls and regulations related to licensing technically, administratively and financially to grant the applicant the necessary license if he meets the requirements.
And Al-Junaidi indicated that the digital signature guarantees the integrity of the data signed from any modification, as it will certainly be revealed and will make the digital signature of the modified data invalid and cannot be verified, which will give a guarantee to all dealers in any service that the data is completely correct, whether for the service provider who wants to verify The data entered or requested.
Al-Junaidi pointed out the importance of the digital signature in the transition towards e-commerce and the digital economy, as any system that operates in e-commerce or any other service within the framework of the digital economy must need a mechanism for correct verification of the identity of the dealers, and to ensure the integrity of the correspondent data within the various services, pointing out that One of the most important forms of digital signature service that it provides is (signing a document), which ensures that the data is still in the same state as it was at the time of signing, and has not undergone any modification. It also enables the identification of the identity of the signer of this data.
