Holzkirchen starts the Advent.

From now on the center is illuminated in the morning and evening.

And those who are interested can marvel at special cribs at 16 stations.

Holzkirchen

– Christmas spirit prevails in the center of Holzkirchen, just in time for the first weekend in Advent.

The library, town hall, fountain, market square and the inner Münchner Straße are decorated with lights.

A Christmas tree shines in the market square.

The employees of the construction yard have been out in the past few days to attach lights and balls to the street lamps and in the trees.

"In order to save energy, however, the continuous night lighting of the town hall, the fountain and the library will be dispensed with this year," says the town hall.

The market square shines in full splendor in the morning from 5 a.m. to 8 a.m. and in the evening from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Balls coupled to street lights

The balls on the market square, the inner Münchner Straße and the Christmas tree are linked to the street lighting, which works with a twilight switch.

That's why these elements shine all night - regardless of the planned shutdown, which mainly affects the residential areas.

As part of the energy-saving measures, the market community has completely dispensed with illuminated motifs on the street poles in Föching, Hartpenning and in Holzkirchen from Oskar-von-Miller-Platz to Erlkamer Straße.

In Föching and Hartpenning there are Christmas trees at the war memorials.

Private buildings are also illuminated

Lighting also creates a festive atmosphere on the private buildings at Modehaus Jennerwein, Alte Post, Raiffeisenbank Holzkirchen-Otterfing, Kreissparkasse Miesbach-Tegernsee and at the HEP.

Mayor Christoph Schmid is pleased that tradespeople, entrepreneurs and homeowners are taking part.

Christmas trees were donated

As every year, the Christmas trees were donated, the tree on the market square by a citizen of Oberlaindern.

However, finding a suitable copy is becoming increasingly difficult.

"We used to have several trees from a Holzkirchner garden or the surrounding area to choose from at the beginning of the year," says Peter Heiss, the manager of the building yard.

Unfortunately, that is no longer the case.

"That's why we welcome tips from property owners who would like to donate their conifers in the coming year." Tree donors can get rid of oversized conifers without incurring any costs and can look forward to their decorated tree at Christmas time.

Anyone who wants to donate a tree in the coming year – six to eleven meters high, densely overgrown firs or spruces are suitable – can contact us on tel.

Nativity scene trail through the community

There will also be the popular nativity scene trail again.

The campaign was created in 2020 out of necessity.

The corona restrictions had a firm grip on social life.

In order to create a pre-Christmas atmosphere and to give the citizens a small ray of hope, the crib maker Oskar Langl from Sollach (Valley municipality) organized a crib trail with the support of the municipality.

Since then, this has been part of the fixed program during the Advent season.

This year, those who are interested can walk it from Sunday, November 27th to Friday, January 6th, according to the market community.

16 stations all over town

The lovingly designed cribs are exhibited in 16 shops and facilities in the village and show huts, farms or oriental buildings true to scale.

The Lang family has made the small works of art available again.

"I can only recommend Oskar Langl's tour to anyone who would like to find out more about the miniature worlds and how they came about," recommends Eva-Maria Schmitz, head of location promotion.

On one of the Saturdays in Advent, the crib builder offers a guided tour with lots of stories about the cribs.

The exact date will be announced.

You can find out which shops and institutions are once again supporting the project and making their premises available for the crèches at www.holzkirchen.de.

There is also a flyer that interested parties can get from the town hall and the participating shops.

In addition to local tradespeople and banks, the public facilities include the community library, the Laurentius Church and the Church of St. Margareth.
