A water main from Maisach was damaged during construction work.
The case is now regulated by insurance companies and lawyers.
Maisach will probably be left with a large part of the costs of around one million euros.
Maisach – The water buyers, i.e. citizens and companies in the community, didn’t notice anything.
The water continued to reach the consumer as usual.
But on a field between the railway tracks, the district road FFB 1 and the road towards Germerswang/Frauenberg, the construction workers recently found themselves in the water.
They had come to start the expansion of the local solar field for a private investor.
And caused a leak.

The problem: The construction company had not announced the start of the work as required in the town hall.
Otherwise an administrative worker would have come to the field and instructed the workers.
As it was, however, they only oriented themselves to the (old and therefore too imprecise) development plan - they did not have sector plans showing exactly where lines were in the ground.

And they also didn't pay attention to the fact that a corridor is kept free in the existing part of the solar park: right above the main water pipe that runs under the solar park.
During construction at that time, the requirement was that 15 meters each on the left and right of the water pipe route must remain free.
Therefore there is a large gap between the modules.
This corridor simply had to be continued when the solar park was expanded.
Post rammed in
However, as was recently reported at the municipal council meeting, the workers rammed a mounting post into the ground without knowing the subsoil more precisely - and hit the main water pipe.
Water shot up.
Maisach's water master was there quickly and blocked the line above the leak.
By then, around 1,600 cubic meters of water had already been lost.
And it got even worse: the approximately 60-year-old pipeline could no longer withstand the pressure after the dam and burst about 300 meters further north.
A veritable geyser shot out of the ground there.
Higher electricity costs
The line is now completely blocked from Frauenberg.
The water is transported to the consumers via another branch.
But because the replacement line has a smaller diameter, more has to be pumped, resulting in higher electricity costs.
Due to its age, the damaged section of the main line should no longer be put into operation.
Especially since contamination is to be expected.
Repair would be nonsense
As head of the building department Petra Endres reported to the municipal council, repairing the old line makes no sense.
You have to lay a new line next to the old one on the previous route, about three kilometers long.
The construction costs are estimated at 800,000 to 900,000 euros.
In addition, there are around 100,000 euros in planning costs and the additional costs mentioned for the power consumption of the pumps.
You want to build as quickly as possible.
This requires approvals from the railways and the water management office so that the previous route can be used again.
In addition, lawyers and representatives of insurance companies have to agree on who will pay for what damage.
The investor of the solar field had "appeared to be reasonable" during the first talks, said Mayor Hans Seidl in the municipal council.
But the company will probably not pay for a three-kilometer new line.
In the town hall, however, one hopes that the current value of the old line, as well as the planning and laying costs, will be reimbursed.
