In Hürth, a woman came first to the police and paid the fuel bill for the patrol car.

The police officers' fuel card had not worked.

Hürth – The police officers have probably never experienced this before: On Tuesday, November 15, 2022, a patrol car wanted to fill up at a gas station on Luxemburgerstrasse in Hürth when a woman got there first.

Due to a technical defect, the police officers could not pay with their official fuel card and had already asked for a replacement card at the station.

According to the police officers, while waiting, a friendly lady approached the officers and handed them the fuel receipt they had already paid for.

The police officers were initially puzzled when the tank was filled up, but then thanked the woman and wanted to refund her the money, reports 24RHEIN.

According to the police, the woman "vehemently" refused and drove away in her car, still smiling.

"You don't have to wait any longer, I was happy to do that," the woman said, according to the police.

"This gesture is a great appreciation for us - thank you very much," says the police.

The police officers were happy about the appreciation and "will probably remember this extraordinary situation for a long time," the police said in a statement.

However, the officials wrote down the number plate of the unknown lady and contacted her personally in order to repay the amount quickly.

"Donations and gifts are great and nice, but police officers generally do not accept rewards and gifts," the police said in a statement.
