As far as the eye can see, the series of strategic failures suffered by Vladimir Putin is dizzying.
First, of course, there is the fierce resistance of these despised and caricatured Ukrainians, who now threaten to inflict a humiliating defeat on Russia and to take back from it the territories pilfered in two attacks since 2014.
Then there is this soft West, with decadent values, which turns out to be surprisingly determined and united in supporting the attacked country and punishing the aggressor, even if it means suffering some domestic inconvenience.
There is also NATO, pronounced in a state of
"brain death"
and which is regaining the vigor of its youth, strengthening its eastern flank and opening up to new candidates diverted by Putin from their neutrality.
There are, let's not forget, those hundreds of thousands of Russians who vote with their feet, fleeing conscription and political repression at the cost of a costly haemorrhage of brains and talents.
There are these strategic allies…
