The National Cancer Screening Campaign in Homs is entering its second week, amid increasing turnout from citizens.

To benefit from its services through public and private hospitals, private medical centers and mobile clinics to cover rural towns and villages.

Dr. Muhammad al-Aboud, head of reproductive health in the Homs Health Directorate and an executive supervisor of the campaign, indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the fixed medical centers participating in the campaign provided 1,800 mammograms, 1,000 cervical smear samples and 1,300 prostate samples during the first week.

Al-Abboud pointed out that the public hospitals participating in the campaign are witnessing a continuous increase in citizens, which reflects their confidence in the efforts and cadres of the health sector and their awareness of the importance of conducting examinations and early detection to raise the recovery rate and start the treatment journey early, pointing to the importance of spreading a culture of awareness about cancer.

Al-Aboud explained that the hospitals participating in the campaign are (Al-Baath University Hospital, Al-Basil in Karm Al-Lawz, Al-Basil in Al-Zahra, and the martyr Abdul-Qader Shaqfa, Al-Bar and Al-Walid in Al-Waer, Al-Makhram, Tal Kalakh, and Farzat Ayoub in Al-Hawash), pointing out that the private medical centers participating in the campaign only provide mammogram imaging service, while four vehicles operate. Mobile within a specific traffic plan to cover the countryside of the governorate.

Al-Abboud explained that the campaign provides its services daily until Saturdays, except for Fridays and official holidays, and aims to conduct 11,016 samples for each type of the three tumors, breast, prostate and cervix.

The national cancer screening campaign in Homs continues until January 10, 2023, targeting men aged 50 and over for prostate cancer screening, women aged 40 years and over for breast cancer screening, and married women aged 21 years and over. for the detection of cervical cancer.
