The visitors and stand operators of the Advent Magic on Lake Tegernsee started the Christmas season 2022 absolutely stress-free and relaxed. The huge rush did not materialize on this first weekend.

Tegernseer Tal

– Whether at the castle market in Tegernsee, at the Rottacher Advent or at the Seeadvent in Bad Wiessee: Saturday (November 26) offered a similar picture of plenty of good-humoured visitors everywhere, but no crowds.

In Tegernsee, for example, parents relaxedly pushed the buggies with their amazed offspring through the stands on the Schlossplatz in the afternoon.

There people gathered under the so-called mangers – those covered tables reminiscent of the traditional feeding troughs for game – to eat or to take shelter during the half-hour sleet shower in the afternoon.

Because for the first time this year, visitors cannot seek refuge in the Westerhof hut.

It wasn't even set up due to a lack of staff.

Garden decorations and liqueurs: reunion with classics from the Tegernsee Castle Market

Otherwise there was a reunion with the tried and tested Schlossmarkt classics such as the Platzerln from the Saliterhof, the brandies, liqueurs and the white wine punch with pomegranate from the songwriter as well as the handmade miniature cribs and the frost-proof garden decoration birds from the Milazzo family of artists.

Every 20 minutes a shuttle boat departs from the markets at Tegernsee

"In view of the fact that the weather is so mixed today and it's not even December yet, we're satisfied," said Mayor Johannes Hagn, with a view of the market and also of the town hall square, where this year there is a mulled wine stand next to the ticket stand jetty there.

From there - as well as from all other markets - one of the shuttle ships of the Tegernsee fleet left every 20 minutes.

This year the two large and two small ships are in use.

This relieves the previously often overcrowded transfer immensely.

“The demand is there.

There have been no complaints about the increased fare, nor have there been queues," said TI President Thomas Six.

This year too, shuttle boats will take visitors from market to market.

Rottach Advent: Children's program moved to the warm swimming pool foyer

"Everyone is in a really good mood," confirmed his colleague Angelika Drexler for the Rottach Advent.

Of all three markets, this one was probably the best attended.

This year he scored for the first time with a fabulous children's program in the cozy and warm foyer of the swimming pool.

There, the little ones had Christmas stories read to them in the reading corner, could make Christmas tree decorations or have their ice princesses or princes made up.

Because there are no patio heaters at the markets this year, the well-heated swimming pool foyer was preferred to the lake pavilion for childcare for the first time.

At the campfire in the middle of the Advent village, the visitors warmed up externally, but mulled wine, orange-Prosecco punch and Jagertee were also beneficial.

After the opening by the alphorn players and Mayor Christian Köck, the real Christmas spirit came up.

Party atmosphere in Bad Wiessee: Young visitors celebrate well into the Christmas season

There was more of a party atmosphere on the lake promenade in Bad Wiessee.

According to the local TI manager Stefan Rachel, visitors strolled through the hut village continuously throughout the day.

In the evening it was mostly young people who celebrated with mulled wine and burgers into the Christmas season.

The stand concept at all three markets ensures that it is worth coming back on another weekend.

Because the operators and thus also the offer change again and again.

The rush on yesterday's Sunday was significantly larger than on Saturday.

"The atmosphere is still super relaxed," reported Peter Rie from Tegernseer Tal Tourismus GmbH (TTT) in the late afternoon.

According to Rie, the big rush usually doesn't happen until this week.

"The second weekend is always the strongest."
