As-Suwayda - SANA
Today, the branch of the General Organization for Seed Multiplication in As-Suwayda shipped about 30 tons of barley seed to the Cooperative Agricultural Bank in the city of Salkhad, in order to provide it to farmers to implement the agricultural plan for the current season.
The director of the branch, Engineer Sulaf Al-Saad, stated in a statement to SANA reporter today that the quantities shipped are of sterilized and sifted barley seeds of the “Euphrates 2” variety, stressing the importance of providing them in the Agricultural Bank in the city of Salkhad to reduce the burdens on farmers by moving to obtain them from the branch’s warehouses in the town of Al-Mazra’a.
Al-Saad indicated that the institution's branch also continues through its warehouses to sell barley seed directly to farmers at a price of 2100 Syrian pounds per kilo, according to the agricultural regulation documents issued by the Agriculture Directorate.
The plan to grow barley in As-Suwayda for the current season is 21,384 hectares, and it is done by rainfed rain.
