The Children's Public Library organized an activity for the theater (Shadow Fiction) at the Al-Assad House of Culture in Lattakia as part of the Syrian Culture Days celebration, with the aim of delivering educational values and health and correct information to the child in a friendly, interactive manner that attracts him and simulates his imagination and mind at the same time, according to those in charge of the activity.
The activity, which was held in cooperation with the Directorate of Culture, included two performances directed to the kindergarten stage, a song accompanied by an acting scene of the story of Laila and the Wolf, in addition to the shadow play (Kargoz and Awadh), in order to educate children about health to prevent diseases and maintain hygiene in an interesting and purposeful way.
The Executive Director of the Public Children's Library Association, Fatima Shahrour, confirmed in a statement to SANA reporter that the library is keen to hold activities that concern the child so that he can obtain educational values and learn from them in an interesting way, pointing out that the puppet theater is an essential pillar of the library's activities, which deals with the importance of the message that is presented to the child and simulates his mind. .
The director of the work, Nidal Adaira, explained the importance of the shadow play for children, which was registered on the UNESCO Human Cultural Heritage List, stressing the importance of the ancient Syrian theater, which presented the character (Kargoz and Iwaz), and that the work addresses the child, so it must be well studied.
Alaa Al-Awki, Ghaith Bedewi, and Hassan Hajiko from the Elissar theater group noted the importance of presenting this work, which simulates children and showed their happiness and interaction.
The director of Al-Majd Kindergarten, Amani Buji, indicated the importance of the activities provided by the public library for children, the privacy of the shadow play, and the library's endeavor to work in the interest of the child and provide valuable information in a way that he likes.
