Latakia - SANA

The stage of Dar Al-Assad for Culture in Lattakia is hosting the theatrical show (Black Night), prepared and directed by Salman Shraiba, based on the script (Black Comedy) by the English playwright Peter Shaffer, as part of the activities of the Syrian Culture Days.

The show presented by the National Theater Company in Latakia simulates the social relations in England during the German blockade in World War II, so that director Shraiba re-prepared it to suit our societies and our current situation, especially with the unjust siege we live in and imposed by countries hostile to Syria.

Shraiba believes in a statement to SANA reporter that with wars and siege, social defects appear for what they really are, which necessitates societies to solve their problems on their own, pointing out his keenness to present the show through popular personalities and address them in a simple way that reflects the concerns of the largest segment of the audience.

Theatrical actor Mustafa Janoudi, the hero of the show and the embodiment of Farid, the plastic artist who hosts the characters in his home, saw that the show presents many social models and messages that allow the audience to extract what they want from them, stressing the importance of the presence of the National Theater troupe within the days of Syrian culture despite all the circumstances that accompanied the work. Especially with the absence of the national stage.

Theatrical actress Ghorba Maraisha, who plays the role of the plastic artist's fiancée, considered that the show confirms the saying that "no matter how much we lie and hide behind our lies, we will remain exposed, whether in the dark or in the light."

The show, which will continue until next Thursday, will be represented by Ghorba Marisha, Mustafa Janoudi, Sawsan Ataf, Qais Zureika, Ali Younes, Dina Al-Ash and Bassam Selkan.
