Today, the branch of the Syrian Family Planning Association in As-Suwayda started implementing a 16-day campaign against gender-based violence.

The first day of the campaign, which is supported by the United Nations Population Fund, includes the organization of a women's march from the association's headquarters to the headquarters of the Sweida City Council, where a number of volunteers in the association and beneficiaries of its services raised banners calling for the renunciation of violence, in addition to distributing posters to introduce the idea and objectives of the campaign.

The head of the association's branch, Iqbal Hamid, stated in a statement to SANA's reporter today that the campaign includes awareness sessions within the association's clinics, its mobile teams, youth centers, and a safe space for women that addresses a group of axes, in addition to various activities, including publishing field messages on the concept of violence and training adolescent girls in a social care home on defense mechanisms. About oneself, and networking with a center that deals with people with disabilities in support of their integration into society through targeted activities and activities.

For his part, the coordinator of the United Nations Population Fund in Suwayda, Nawras Al-Saleh, indicated the importance of concerted efforts to combat gender-based violence, empower women, inform them of their rights, encourage them to express themselves, and confront all forms of violence applied against them.

The Family Planning Association branch was established in Suweida in 1992, and aims to raise awareness of the concepts of reproductive health, and to provide health, psychological and social care and counseling in a way that contributes to improving the conditions of the family.
