Chinese official data showed today that China's telecommunications industry maintained a stable expansion in revenues during the first ten months of this year.
Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, published by Xinhua, showed that the comprehensive operating revenues in the sector amounted to more than 1.32 trillion yuan (about 185 billion US dollars) during the period between January and October, up 8 percent year-on-year.
Emerging businesses such as big data, cloud computing, Internet data centers and the Internet of Things saw a rapid increase in their revenues during the period, and the emerging business revenues of China's three telecom giants China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom jumped 33.1 percent from a year earlier to 256.3 billion yuan.
In particular, revenues in cloud computing and big data increased by 127.8 percent and 59.3 percent, respectively, in the first ten months, while revenues from data centers increased by 12.7 percent.
In addition, the development of the fifth generation communications network in China continued to progress, as the number of fifth generation base stations reached 2.25 million base stations until the end of last October, a net increase of 825 thousand stations compared to the number recorded at the end of 2021.
