Six winners of the Fruits of Imagination competition for reading throughout the year, took turns this evening on the platform of the Palace of Culture Theater in the city of As-Suwayda to show their skills in discussing books and novels they have read recently, to win the title of Golden Reader for the year 2022 within the activities of the Syrian Culture Days celebration.
The competition organized by the Life Skills Team at the Directorate of Culture in As-Suwayda more than a year ago, in cooperation with the Hakaya Artistic Collective and a number of supporting parties, within the project (My Book is My Friend) launched by the Directorate of Child Culture at the Ministry of Culture. It aims to encourage adolescents and youth to interactive reading in which experiences are exchanged. And the information is followed up and supervised by specialists and evaluated by a jury according to those in charge of the competition.
And he won the title of the golden winner for the year 2022, according to the results of the competition and the decision of the jury, the young Dia Ghanem, while Lana Faraj won the second place, and Sarah Al-Halabi came third, fourth, Inana Abu Latif, fifth, Siwar Khair, and sixth, Catherine Salah.
The coronation ceremony included honoring the winners and presenting a recorded video message from the Algerian writer Wassini Al-Araj, in which he singled out the Fruits of Imagination activity, emphasizing the importance of reading and its role in building the personality of the conscious intellectual and getting out of narrow places to travel to different worlds and cultures, in conjunction with a display of a shadow silhouette that reflects the impact of reading on The life of youth, in addition to presenting the anthem “The Fruits of Imagination” written by the writer and poet Mansour Harb Huneidi, and the performance of the “Hakaya Artistic Gathering” troupe.
The Director of Culture in As-Suwayda, Laila Abu Fakhr, stressed in a statement to SANA reporter the importance of the competition in directing the young generation towards books, reading, and acquiring knowledge, science and culture, at a time when virtual worlds, technology and social media dominate the thinking and lives of many.
For his part, the supervisor of the event and member of the jury, writer Mansour Harb Huneidi, indicated that the competition included weekly and main preparatory stages every three months to crown the golden, silver and bronze reciters during it, leading to the final competition stage at the end of the year, which was reached by 4 golden reciters, in addition to two reciters who qualified with the results of the competitions. The silver and bronze rings that took place recently, and two in each of them climbed to the highest ring.
Diala Al-Melhem, Child Culture Officer and Head of the Life Skills Team at the Directorate of Culture in As-Suwayda, pointed out that the competition attracted more than 90 youth and adolescent contestants throughout the year.
