Five people were killed in a helicopter crash in the coastal town of Yangyang, in northeastern South Korea's Gangwon Province, today.
Yonhap news agency quoted local officials as saying, "The helicopter, an S-58T chartered by local governments in Yangyang, Sokcho and Goseong, crashed on a hill while surveying the area to prevent forest fires, killing five people." Rescue teams continue their work at the scene of the accident.
Investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances and causes of the crash.
