Horst Rohde and his foundation receive the Dörte Sambraus Prize.
It honors exceptional commitment to children and young people.
Wolfratshausen/Eurasburg – The 26th Dörte Sambraus Prize this year went to Horst Rohde and his foundation of the same name.
In a ceremonial act in the hall of the town hall in Eurasburg, the award in the form of the sculpture “The Congratulator” was presented in the presence of many former prizewinners.
Rohde himself could not be present because he had a minor car accident in the afternoon.
He was represented by foundation board member Jörg Breiski.
The celebration was musically framed by Claudia Sommer and Klaus Reichardt.
Dörte-Sambraus-Prize honors exceptional commitment to children and young people
In honor of the deceased Dörte Sambraus, the founder of the Wolfratshauser Inselhaus child and youth welfare service, Alexander Brochier and his foundation created the award.
According to Sambraus' daughter Catherine Kemeny-Sambraus, "The award is given to people who have shown exceptional commitment to children and young people." People who don't just look the other way, but use their own protected role to get involved use by children.
"You help," said the laudator, "to create good memories that will accompany you for a lifetime."

Horst Rohde, who got into equestrian sport through his wife, quickly realized how valuable the contact between humans and animals can be.
"However, he found it unfair that not every child can have access here for financial reasons." So in 1996 he set up a foundation dedicated to precisely this purpose: When he became acquainted with therapeutic horseback riding in the Inselhaus 13 years ago, he helped when buying therapy horses - and has been one of the supporters of the facility ever since.
"Horst Rohde paid for therapy sessions, financed free time, vehicles and the project 'Dogs build bridges'," Kemeny-Sambraus thanked.
This year, too, the former entrepreneur dug deep into his wallet.
Not only did he help rebuild animal-assisted education by funding the purchase of horses.
He also provided a subsidy for staff costs.
“Because it is often forgotten that such an animal also needs to be looked after.
It needs a stable, feed, a veterinarian,” emphasized Kemeny-Sambraus.
“To take some good memories with you into the future”
Breiski was happy about the honor.
"We are pleased to be able to join the ranks of your award winners." The Inselhaus and its work have become a special partner for the foundation.
"They realize what we advocate, which is the core of our work." For him and the foundation, it is wonderful how the children and young people interact positively with the animals, how they feel joy, and "just like you, woman Kemeny-Sambraus, have described, take some nice memories with you into the future.”
