A piece of human spine, initially taken for the remains of a foot, was found on the beach of Fécamp (Seine-Maritime) and an investigation was opened, we learned Sunday, November 27 from a police source.
The macabre discovery was made on Saturday November 26 by a walker, alerted by the ballet of seabirds "
around this part of the body
" and who warned the emergency services, this source told AFP.
The bones were initially taken for a human foot, the discovery of which was reported by local media, but "
it is in fact a part of the spine
", specifies the police source.

An investigation into the cause of death has been opened.
