The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the postponement of the visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Belarus, which was scheduled for today and tomorrow, due to the death of Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei.
A statement issued by the ministry and reported by Russia Today said, “Due to the sudden death of Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei on the 26th of November, a decision was taken to postpone the joint meeting of the delegations of the Russian and Belarusian foreign ministries and the working visit of Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to Minsk, and an announcement will be made later. New dates for the visit and the joint session of the two delegations.
Yesterday, the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced the sudden death of its Foreign Minister, Vladimir Makei, at the age of 64.
