A bargain?

A Kaufland customer discovered an item for 1 cent on his receipt - and bought a larger one.

Landsberg am Lech - Is it a price error by Kaufland?

Or did the supermarket chain just want to get rid of the item?

That's what many in the mydealz.de community, where users can report bargains, asked themselves.

This is exactly what a user who was shopping in the Kaufland branch in Landsberg am Lech (Bavaria) did.

Editor's note

This text has already appeared in the past.

He was of particular interest to many readers.

That's why we're offering it again.

Kaufland: Grill cleaner sign shows 2.49 euros – but customers get it for 0.01 euros

He noticed that one item he bought, which was priced on the shelf at $2.49, was only a penny off the receipt: Flash brand's organic power cleaner, which is used to keep grills clean make.

The user writes: "I just bought the cleaner in Kaufland to clean my grill.

Excellent for 2.49 euros, but at the checkout it costs 0.01 euros more.”

Kaufland customers buy four more grill cleaners afterwards

As proof, he shows his receipt from October 19 at 5:36 p.m.

And one more.

Because maybe a bit intoxicated by the bargain, he went in again and started a "bulk purchase": He brought four more grill cleaners to the checkout, plus a bottle of wine for 6.99 euros (to celebrate the triumph?), everything to see on a receipt from 5:52 p.m.

Five bottles of grill cleaner for five cents!

The supposed deal is received differently by other users.

“How did your grill look like that you need four bottles of cleaner?” scoffs one (in fact it was actually five bottles).

Another thinks he should also mention that there is nothing left after his purchase.

Nearly.

Because the Kaufland customer admits: "I left one as decoration."

Others find the 1 cent grill cleaner quite interesting.

"Anyone tried it at another Kaufland?" and "Are they still available at that price or is it all gone?" someone wants to know.

Whether the price only applies in Landsberg am Lech or everywhere remains unclear.

"Nationwide?

I doubt it” and “The price reduction is already valid nationwide, but the stuff is certainly no longer available anywhere”, the users doubt.

Kaufland: Grill cleaner for 1 cent a mistake?

Or should the leftovers just go out?

It was also initially unclear whether it was a pricing error or whether Kaufland really wanted to sell the cleaner for a cent away from the barbecue season.

"That's a real price mistake," says one.

And another counters: "It's not the price that's wrong, it's the sign.

The item is listed with the price, but in fact no longer available everywhere.

File dead, so to speak.”

The same user posts similar comments.

"This is a sale item.

It costs a cent everywhere, it just won't be available anywhere," he says.

Does he have inside information?

Because he also says: "That's one of those articles where the branch slept forever.

1 cent is the last discount level to get rid of the stuff.

The price tag hasn't been updated for ages, and the item has certainly already seen various price reductions.

Of course, if the sign is never exchanged, then nobody will buy it.”

After a tz.de request, Kaufland provided some clarification: “This was a pricing error.

We currently do not have the product in our range, ”said a spokeswoman.

Incidentally, Aldi has a completely different kind of 1-cent item that many people don't know about.
