Security scandals surrounding the World Cup games in Qatar?
A report by the exiled Iranian news site "Iran International" claims that Doha handed over to Iranian intelligence lists of Israelis visiting the country for the games and even helped Tehran monitor and arrest regime opponents during the events.
The things were revealed in a six-minute recording obtained by the "Black River" hacker organization, loyal to the opposition in the country, when it broke into the servers of the Iranian news agency affiliated with the Fars regime.
In the recording, Qassem Qureishi, deputy commander of the Basij militia, a force used by the Revolutionary Guards to suppress opposition to the regime, was heard during a closed event of the organization in which journalists loyal to the regime were present.
"Israelis bought 15,000 tickets to the World Cup," Qureshi told reporters, implying that the organization has information about the identity of the Israelis visiting the games.
Qureshi referred to the cooperation with the Qataris and said that Iranian intelligence officers checked information that came from the authorities in Doha themselves.
However, the Iranian general said that the Qatari authorities refused Tehran's request to send Iranian intelligence personnel to deal with opposition elements during the games.
